Three PTI leaders rearrested after release from jail

BAHAWALPUR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders Ejaz Gaddan and Malik Muhammad Usman Channar and PTI South Punjab youth wing president Waqar Khan were rearrested at the gates of the New Central Jail after their release on Thursday.

According to the PTI lawyers and youth wing leader Ammar Bin Arif, as soon the leaders came out of the jail gate, a contingent of police present there rearrested them and took them away to an unknown destination.Earlier, all three, along with other PTI activists, were arrested on Oct 2 on charge of violating the Section 144 and demanding the release of Imran Khan.

They were released on bail but were rearrested. According to the PTI lawyers, the leaders were taken in custody following the party`s protest call in Multan, Layyah and other areas.

RAPE BID: City police Dunyapur in Lodhran district claimed to have arrested a man on charge of attempting to rape a teenage mute boy.

According to the first information report registered on thecomplaint of the father of the victim, the suspect lured his mute son to a graveyard.

He said when his son resisted, the suspect tortured him. The boy screamed and passers-by gathered there. The suspect managed to flee from the scene. Police arrested the suspect.

SENTENCED: Lodhran District and Sessions Judge Mehmood Haroon Khan awarded nine years` imprisonment along with a fine of Rs80,000 to a drug trafficker Asfar Ali.

According to the prosecution, Lodhran Saddar police had, on March 2, 2024, arreste dthe suspect and recovered one kilogram and 120 gram charas from his possession.

ACCIDENT: A man died while three of his companions suffered serious injuries when their jeep rammed into a roadside tree due to speeding on Channan Pir Road near Yazman.

The deceased was identified as Muhammad Ramzan (60) while the injured were identified as Khalid, Ata Muhammad and Arsalan.

The injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Yazman.

IUB: The Times Higher Education, an internationaluniversity ranking body, released the World University Ranking for the year 2025 and included Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) among the top 801 universities globally and among the top 10 universities nationally.

According to an IUB press release, among the total of 2,092 universities in the global ranking, the IUB is in the list of 801-1,000 universities.

In Pakistan, 47 universities were included in the ranking and the IUB was in the first 10 universities.

Earlier, the IUB was included in the list of 10011200 universities.
