KARACHI: A sessions court on Tuesday sentenced a security guard to five years in prison in an attempted murder case.

Najeebullah was found guilty of making an attempt on the life of his colleague Surat Khan in Bahadurabad last year.

However, a co-accused, Ghulam Hussain, was acquitted for want of evidence.Additional district and sessions judge (east) Mehboob Ali Dayo directed the convict to pay a compensation of Rs600,000 to the victim.

According to the prosecution, the accused and the victim were performing security duty at a house when the accused allegedly opened fire on the complainant after a heated argument.

A case was registered against the suspects under Sections 324 (attempted murder), 337-D (punishment of jaifah) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
