Illegal phone gateway

GUJRANWALA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed on Tuesday to have unearthed a mobile and telephone gateway where subscribers of about 100 villages were given connections through an illegal tower. However, the suspects managed to escape.

FIA Deputy Director Khalid Anees told Dawn the gateway was being run by Rana Tariq in village Bhatti Bhango Talwandi Musa Khan on the Pasrur Road. He had erected a tower near the village and had given connections to subscribers of more than 100 villages and was getting fee from them.

Tariq was also offering the internet service to the sub-scribers through illegal channels, he said.

The FIA deputy director added that a team conducted the raid and removed all the installations and equipment.

The main suspect and his accomplices managed to escape after seeing the raiding party.

FARMERS: The divisional administration constituted 36 centres for making payment of the Chief Minister`s Kissan Package to the farmers.

Commissioner Shamail Ahmad Khawaja said four centres each had been constituted in Gujranwala and Sialkot, three each in Gujrat, Narowal and Mandi Bahauddin while two centres had been constituted in Hafizabad. An amount of Rs58 billion would be distributed among 9,965 farmers under the relief package.
