THIS is with reference to letters titled `CNIC for senior citizens` (Nov 1) written by Mr Ayub Sheikh and by Mr. K. M. Shafi on Nov 5 respectively.
We would like to thank the writers for raising this important issue. It is informed through this letter that the interior minister has taken notice of the issue faced by elderly citizens in the renewal of their CNICs and has directed the NADRA management for immediate redressal of the issue of the two writers.
The minister has also directed NADRA to ensure that senior citizens are specially facilitated at all NADRA centres across Pakistan.
Moreover, it is informed through this letter that NADRA on the directions of the interior minister has also started setting up special desks for elderly persons. All the mega centres being established by NADR A have separate desks for this purpose.
For the rest of the NADRA centres where establishing special counters is not possible, NADRA officials have been specially advised to facilitate senior citizens and entertain their requests on a priority basis.
It may be noted that NADRA in certain cases also facilitates elderly people by dispatching mobile registration vans and sending its staff whenever any request for the same is received by NADRA.
