Three Rangers` personnel killed in road accident

RAWALPINDI: Three Rangers personnel were killed and 11 injured when their double-cabin van overturned after the tie-rod collapsed on the Motorway, three kilometres from Fateh Jang on Thursday, the police said.

The Rangers vehicle was heading towards Tarbela from Islamabad when it overturned, killing two of the Rangers personnel on the spot.

According to the Motorway Police, Rangers Hawaldar Asim Majeed and Lance Naik Ashiq Ali died on the spot and Sipohi Ghulam Shabir died in the hospital.

Rescue teams and two ambulances reached the site of the accident and moved the injured men trapped in the car`s wreckage to various hospitals in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

One of the injured men is said to be in a critical condition and is being treated at the Military Hospital and eight of the victims are said to have sustained minor injuries.

The police have registered a report for the incident.

The funeral prayers for the deceased Rangers personnel were offered in Islamabad and were attended by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
