Water supply scheme for Tank city

TANK: A memorandum of understanding was signed here the other day to launch a water supply scheme to benefit 50,000 dwellers of Tank city.

The scheme will be executed by the provincial government in collaboration with Intercooperation with the financial assistance of the Swiss Agency for Development andCooperation (SDC). It will cost Rs9.145 million, according to a statement.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Tank Tehsil Municipal Officer Hameedullah Marwat said the resources allocated for completion of scheme would be efficientlyutilised.

He said that beneficiaries of the scheme would be responsible for its maintenance.

He said supply of clean drinking water would protectpeople from contracting diseases.

Intercooperation team leader Munawar Khan Khattak said the people required constant supply of water for drinking and washing purposes, and advised them against wasting the precious commodity.

The people, he said were also advised to cooperate during the execution of the project. `We support the government in the projects aimed at people`s welfare,` he said.
