Boy arrested for poisoning class fellow to death

TOBA T EK SINGH: City police arrested a youth on Tuesday night who allegedly poisoned to death an 18-year-old boy after kidnapping him on Monday.
Waleed Ahmad was a son of Pakistan Tehreek-iInsaf`s former Kamalia city president Faisal Qazzafi.
Ahmad`s class fellow Arsalan Haider took him to his rented house in Haseeb Garden on Canal Road and offered him a soft drink allegedly mixed with sedatives. When Ahmad became unconscious, Haider injected him with poison due to which he died.
The suspect told police he buried the deceased in his house and cemented the`grave`.
Police recovered the body later.
Ahmad`s father Qazzafi said his son had no enmity with the suspect whom police were interrogating about extortion from Ahmad as he belonged to an affluent family.
A case was registered against Haider under sections 302 and 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
BOYCOTT: Contractuallecturers and other nonteaching staff of all government commerce colleges of the district boycotted classes and official work on the call of the Commerce Professors and Lecturers Association (CPLA) on the 17th consecutive day on Wednesday.
They have been protesting against less salary and nonpayment of allowances.
They also staged a protest demonstration in Kamalia outside their colleges while scores of students also participated in the protest.
A CPLA spokesman announced on Wednesday that the strike would continue until the acceptance of their demands.
