OKARA: Punjab Ombudswoman Dr Mira Phailbus has said the working women must be provided complete legal protection against sexual harassment in their offices and other places of job.
She said this while addressing a seminar on the concluding day of a 10-day awareness programme on `Women Harassment Programme(WHP) across the district under the Enforcement of Women Protection Law 2010 on Wednesday.
She said the implementation of the Enforcement of Women Protection Law 2010 was necessary so that the women could participate in national development and economic activities with complete freedom and confidence.
The ombudswoman said the first and foremost preference ofthe WHP awareness campaign was to bringing an end to verbal and physical sexual harassment in the society.
Apart from forming an inquiry committee in every department, Dr Phailbus said it was also important to display boards and flexes inscribes with a code of moral conduct at a prominent place in every department across the province.
The ombudswoman said since harassing a woman was legally acrime, the affected woman could get her complaint registered verbally or in writing with the inquiry committee which would complete the probe within a weel(.
She said a fine of Rs100,000 could be imposed on any department if it failed to complete the harassment crime complaint in the stipulated period.

The DCO nominated EDO (Community and Development) Rana Muhammad Ashraf Javaid as a focal person of the programme.
ADC Sheikh Fareed Ahmad and 20 volunteers, who were trained and delivered lectures in every department during the 10-day WHP campaign, were awarded certificates.
