GUJRAT: The association of electric fan makers has lodged a strong protest against the severing of the gas connections of some fan manufacturing units in Gujrat and termed the campaign by the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited a step to undermine the industrial growth.

A protest meeting of the Pakistan Electric Fan Manufacturers Association (PEFMA) was held with its chief Azhar Aslamin the chair and the participants expressed concern over non-provision of fuel to the industrial sector.

It was decided in the meeting that a delegationof the association would meet SNGPL officials and apprise them of the grave situation the fan manufacturers were in.

The association said instead of facilitating the manufacturers and exporters of the electric fans, the government was creating hurdles for them which could result in the loss of foreign exchange.

Kabeer Ahmed, the regional manager of the SNGPL Gujrat region, said since the multiple connections had been banned, the department could not allow anyone to exploit the situation and the illegal gas connections would be severed without any discrimination.
