TIMERGARA: Chairmen of village councils here the other day asl(ed the government to rent offices for them as government buildings were not available in most of their areas.
In this regard, a meeting was chaired by assistant commissioner Zahid Pervez Warriach at his office which was attended by chairmen and vice-chairmen of all village councils in Adenzai sub-division. Majority of the chairmen complained that they lacked offices for their councils and faced difficulties in carrying out routine activities.
Mr Warriach told the participants that under the government`s rules of business for LG representatives the village councils` chairmen were entitled to rent offices in their respective areas and the government would pay the rent.
He said that secretaries of village councils would also be recruited for maintenance of the councils` record. He asked the chairmen to hold regular meetings in their respective councils to solve people`s problems.
He said that the village councils had been entitled to prepare PC-I of the projects while a project approval committee, headed by respective assistant commissioner, would send these proposals with their recommendations to the director local governments for further action. He said that the chairmen would also issue birth and death certificates.
OFFICE-BEARERS: The annual election of the Anjumani-Tajaran, Talash, was held here the other day. Qazi Abdul Salam supervised the election.
Dr Noor Mohammad was elected president and Ghulam Mohammad general secretary of the organisation for the next term. Other cabinet members would be announced soon by the president and general secretary.
