THIS is with reference to the letter `Inefficient PMDC` (Dec 5) regarding delay in the processing of professional teaching experience documents by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC). Such validations take considerable time to process due to the involvement of multiple procedures and stakeholders.
Another major factor contributing to the delaysis the authentication of publications, with each applicant submitting a minimum of five and up to over 40 publications. All of these need to be thoroughly reviewed for authenticity.
To facilitate the applicants, PMDC has recently launched an online portal to expedite the process. Within a month of the launch, 1,702 cases were received, and 1,345 of them were disposed of.
The initiative has been a step in the right direction. Besides, the names of relevant staff members with designated cellphone numbers have already been uploaded on the official website.
