T HE first thing Chief Justice Saqib did af ter taking his oath was to form the bench to hear the Panama leaks case. The question is: what would happen to the other pending cases? People die without getting justice.
The chief justice should visit the lower and high courts to examine the pending cases and ask them to expedite the hearings. He should also keep a check on all subordinate courts. All unnecessary cases should be disposed of within a short time. There is also a need to follow the lawyers` code of conduct and there should be no delaying tactics by lawyers while making arguments. This can happen only ifjudges dotheirdudesin the bestinterest of the country and people.
