I HAVE been a long-time resident of Sanda, Lahore. My family has been living in this vicinity since four generations.
Lahore has turned into a metropolitian city from a small town. In the process, however, it has lost its quaint charm besides assuming the modern headaches of a city heavy traffic, clogged roads, pollution of all types and the lack of basic facility for life clean water.
The water provided to our locality now is filthy and sometimes is mixed with sewage.Naturally it is totally unfit for drinking. In summer, water is provided only in the early morning while in winter the supply is contaminated.
If this is the state of affairs for an old locality of Lahore, what do the people of other cities, towns and villages have to deal with? The Punjab government should ensure the supply of clean water to all in the province.
