SC team visits OLMT sites

LAHORE: Members of a special committee of experts constituted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan paid visits on Monday to various sites of the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project and inspected the ongoing conservation work at the University of Punjab`s old campus, Town Hall and Chauburji Gateway.
During inspection, the committee members noticed some issues concerning conservation and renovation of the PU`s old campus and Town Hall.
`After observing some faults in the ongoing conservation work, the committee members directed the officials concerned on the occasion to immediately take remedial measures,` said a spokesman in a press release.
They also directed the PHA authorities to start leveling and modeling of the courtyard of the Chauburji Gateway. They also sought to develop a greenbelt in the area as per directions of the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, a joint team comprising officials of the Lahore Development Authority and AntiCorruption Establishment launched an operation in various parts of the city and dismantled infrastructure and other sorts of constructions of seven illegal housing schemes.
The schemes where the operation was launched included Rana Park, Azan Garden, Mirza Estate, Good Luck Housing Scheme, Al-Haram Garden, Hamad Garden and unnamed scheme developed in front of Qasim garden.
On the other hand, city administration`s teams claimed to have sealed 16 during the last three months for flouting one-dish and marriage timings.
