2023-02-12
LARKANA: Activists of Jeay Sindh Mahaz-Riaz (JSM-R) took out processions in several towns of Larkana division on Saturday in protest against price hike, enforced disappearance, battered law and order, unemployment and moves to settle outsiders in Sindh.

Riaz Chandio, chairman of JSM-R, who led the main protest at bus terminal in Ratodero town, said that people in Sindh were unable to get two square meals a day while the law and order continued to deteriorate and narcotics were being sold openly. He said that his party stood against digital census and said entire burden of growing inflation had been shifted to the poor who was already overburdened.

Chandio said that people of Sindh were drowning in the morass of price spike whereas reports of suicide were pouring in daily from every nook and corner of the province which spoke volumes for the fragility of economy and law and order.

He lashed out at police for employing methods of what they liked to call `full fry` and `half fry` to eliminate criminals and termed it extra-constitutional step.

In spite of having huge natural treasures Sindh people were deprived of electricity, gas, he said.

He said in 2019 HIV AIDS broke out in Ratodero and threatened children`s` lives. The government had held up the report on HIV AIDS which should be made public, he said.

He criticised enforced disappearances and cited the example of Majid Hussain Hydri. He rejected the digital census and expressed the fear it would be used to convert Sindhis into minority.

He demanded the Sindh government expel Afghanis and said the party would start province-wide protests from Sunday. The protests were held on Saturday in Shahdadkot, Warah, Shikarpur and other towns of Larkana division, he said.-Correspondent
