I WAS recently watching CNN. There was a lady who was saying that whatever atrocities were being committed by the so-called Islamic State is in conformity with the injunctions of Islam.
It is a tragedy that no effort appears to be made to counter such propaganda. She also said something about Muslims` dislike of Christians. This is not true.
The Holy Quran clearly says in verse 62 of Sura 2 (`The Cow`) that anybody who believes in God and the last day and performs righteously will have his reward.
Similarly, verse 35 of Sura 5 of Maida (the Feast) says that killing a person without any reasons is tantamount to killing humanity. Conversely, anyone saving a person`s life is tantamount to saving mankind. Any person who violates these commands cannot be considered Muslim` As for the dislike of Christians, how is it that with more than 1400 years` rule in Syria pre-World War 1 Palestine 30pc of their populationis Christian and enjoys equal rights? The Muslims believe in the great Prophets Jesus Christ and Moses (May God be pleased with them) and it is for this reason that we do not publish any cartoons about them despite perpetual provocations by some irresponsible people.
