RETIRED government and private employees, including EOBI pensioners getting Rs5250 a month, have been saving their small investments in the Behbood Scheme to get some monthly support to malce both ends meet. Their monthly profit has now been slashed from Rs1,200 per Rs100,000 to Rs780, which has increased their miseries.
Finance Minister Ishaque Dar and other senior government functionaries should ponder the matter and restore the previous rates of National Savings meant for senior citizens and also rationalise the EOBI pension.
