Unfair loadshedding

2017-03-12
Q-BLOCK of North Nazimabad which comprises hardly 200 houses and three streets on a KDA-approved scheme is provided electricity by three different feeders, whereas only one would be more than suf ficient.

The power connections in one street clubbed with another block were exempted from loadshedding four years ago. It was promised at the time that the remaining houses of Q-Block would also be exempted after detaching their supply lines from the adjoining Kuthei Abadi.

One street, which comprises only 12 houses, remains attached to the PMT of the Youth Centre which is located far away and subjected to seven and a half hours of loadshedding as most of them lie in a Kutchi Abadi. Our applications for power connections have not been responded to despite several reminders being posted on the social media.

Instead of fulfilling the promise, loadshedding was increased from six hours to seven and ahalfhours besidesincreasing electricity tariff from 2015. Often power is shut down for 12 hours on the pretext of carrying on maintenance work.

Instead of detecting and punishing power thieves, K-Ele ctric is punishing law-abiding citizens through extensive loadshedding.Loadshedding on the pretext of line losses or power thefts should no longer be acceptable.

The authorities concerned are requested to exempt all houses falling in Q-Block from load shedding.
