TR AFFIC congestion is a perpetual issue and common nuisance in this mega metropolis called Karachi. This problem exacerbates manifold at schools` closing time. I often witness a long queue of automobiles waiting, each one for anindividual child in front of one school in Clifton, near my office.
This trend of employing resources for picking one child from school is detrimental for both society and economy as this puts pressure on the flow of traffic as well as on fuel.
The country is wasting valuable forex on the import of fuels besides the harm this burning is doing to the environment.
This problem can be resolved if we practise communal carpooling. The ride of one vehicle is shared by more than one child living in the vicinity. Even this small effort will bring some respite to the lungs of this city.
I would like to rest my case with a quotation of Gustavo Petro, `A developed country is not a place where the poor have cars. It`s where the rich use public transport.
