SWABI: The All Neighbourhood Councils Ittehad Topi (ANCIT) on Saturday rejected the merger of Frontier Education Foundation (FEF) Girls` Degree College, Topi, with Kotha Girls` Degree College.
The decision was taken at a meeting here which was also attended by PML-N MPA Shiraz Khan.
The local government representatives said that FEF college was located in the heart of Topi city and it should not be merged with Kotha college because it would be difficult for Topi girls to continue their education away from their homes.
They alleged that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Asad Qaisar had played a key role in merging the two colleges, which they said should be reversed in the `best interest` of the Topi girls.
On the occasion, Shiraz Khan said the status of Topi girls` college should remain intact and the provincial government should not force the people of the city and its suburbs to stage protest demonstrations.
`We would continue our protest till thereversal of the decision.
Zahir Shah, president ANCIT, said it was late provincial minister Sher Zaman Sher who had appealed to then KP governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah to establish FEF college in the city. He warned that if the government failed to reverse the decision they would stage protests.
The participants of the meeting appealed to the provincial education minister to reconsider the decision.
