Visual and performing art workshops for minorities, needy

Olomopolo Media and Umeed Jawan will hold a series of workshops on visual and performing arts, titled HUM. The workshops have been designed to present hve forms of visual and performing arts: music, dance, theatre, poetry and visual or fine arts underthe bannerofOloFactree.

HUM RUNG, the visual art workshop, will be conducted by Aleem Daad and Zahid Mayo from April 16-18. Work done by the participants will be showcased on April 19 at a public event.
The music workshop, titled HUM DHUN,with Mousiqa will take place from April 23-25 and the showcase will be on April 26. HUM TAAL, the dance workshop with Adnan Jahangir, will take place from May 4-6 with the showcase on May 7. HUM NAATAK, an ImprovTheatre workshop with veteran actress Sania Saeed, will take place from May 8-10 with a showcase on May 11. The final workshop, HUM NAZM, is a poetry workshop with Raabia Qadir taking place from May 14-16. The work will be showcased on May 17.
The Olomopolo team held an orientation of their project at Lahore Public School where students were shown slides for a better understanding of what the project entailed.
Kanwal Khoosat, executive director of Olomopolo Media, said the HUM project was an important initiative to inculcate unity, bringing youths from different areas and backgrounds together and work towards a common goal at the end of the workshop.
Vicky Zhuang Yi-Yin, the operations director at Olomopolo, said it was important to focus on minority groups and bring them to the fore-ground, and it was imperative to share their stories. The sharing of their stories will allow for better tolerance and understanding between different people.
Eighth edition of the Pakistan Fashion Design Council (PFDC) Sunsilk Fashion Week will be held from April 18 to 21 in Lahore. The council has revealed its participating designers, textile houses and high-street brands.
The fashion week marks the 12th platform initiated by the council Expected luxury/prêt designers include Fahad Hussayn, HSY, Huma and Amir Adnan, Misha Lakhani, Muse, Nickie Nina, Nida Azwer Atelier, Republic by Omar Farooq, Saira Shakira, Sana Safinaz, Sania Maskatiya, Teena by Hina Butt, Zara Shahjahan and Zonia Anwaar.
The PFDC also introduces debut solo ramp showcases for designers Hassan Riaz, Natasha Kamal and Syeda Amera with their luxury/prêt collections.
