Skyscrapers in Peshawar

2017-04-12
IMR AN Khan has asked the Islamabad High Court to take suo motu action against the illegal and unplanned construction in Bani Gala. He claims that buildings are being constructed with no planning for water, sewerage or even storage for gas or movement of solid waste from the region.

This results in waste going into the waterways, while trees are being cut down and environment is degraded with unplanned overcrowded residential and commercial buildings.

I would like to request the PTI chief to take suo motu action against the illegal and unplanned construction of residential high-rise flats near University Town.

One high-rise constructed in University Town at Old Bara Road a few years ago has already created overcrowding and a disproportionate demand for electricity, water and natural gas. The sewerage and solid waste is being managed by University Town municipality.

Similarly, two new flats are being constructed. When I contacted the town municipal and town nazim, I was told that they cannot help as the flats were constructed on Old Bara Road that is considered the border of University Town.

Imran Khan should take action against this illegal construction in University Town, Peshawar.
