Fuel adulteration

2017-04-12
APROPOS the report in Dawn (April 8) about the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority`s plans to stop fuel adulteration, I whole-heartedly agree with the decision.

Over the past two years, I was sold adulterated fuel in Kalam, Swat and in Naran and Kaghan Valley. The petrol stations were without fuel, while it was easily available in roadside shops at a premium of about Rs10 per litre. The problem was the quality of petrol.

After purchasing the adulterated petrol I immediately experienced a significant drop in the engine`s pick-up. I have experienced a similar problem whenever I purchase fuel from certain regular outlets in Islamabad.

No matter what measures OGRA or any other agencies take to stop this practice, it will continue unless the price of the commodity used in adulteration are brought to the same level as that of petrol and diesel.
