Two missing as rickshaw plunges into canal

KASUR: Two persons, including a woman, were feared drowned when a rickshaw fell into the Lower Bari Doab Canal near the Head Baloki recreational park in Phoolnagar on Tuesday.
The rickshaw, driven by Yasir, was carrying eight passengers when it plunged into the canal while overtaking another rickshaw.
Passersby with Rescue 1122 personnel rescued seven people and shifted them to the Pattoki Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Two passengers including driver`s mother Najma Bibi, could not be rescued.Efforts were under way to find them out.
Also, the Phoolnagar police found on Tuesday the body of five-year-old Omar Farooq, of Kot Chiragh Din village, missing since Saturday in a watercourse.
Some locals alerted the Phoolnagar police about the body.
The police sent the body to the Pattoki THQ Hospital for autopsy.
The police are looking into the matter.
TWO HELD: The Kasur assistant commissioner (AC) got two persons arrested on Tuesday for supplying powder milk and seized 600 kilo synthetic milk.
AC Imtiaz Khichi alerted thepatrolling police about a mini truck near Vadana stop on Ferozepur Road. Police stopped the truck near Pakki Havali Stop.
Mustafabad police registered a caseagainsttheaccused,impounded the mini truck and recovered power milk from them which was packed in fertiliser bags.
According to the police, the dry milk was being supplied to Lahore hotels.
Also, Pattoki AC Shah Rukh Niazi seized a truckcarryingsubstandard ice cream in bulk near Pattoki bypass. Food Inspector Rana Ibadullah dumped the cream while the police arrested salesman Naeem Ikram.
