Pesco workers asked to check power theft

PESHAWAR: Peshawar Electric Supply Company chief executive officer Shabbir Ahmad on Tuesday asked the relevant staff members to check power theft, eliminate illegal connections,reducelinelossesandincrease the dues`recovery to help the company earn profit.

He issued directions during a meeting with the representatives of the Pesco workers here at the Wapda House.

Pakistan Hydro-Electric Labor Union chairman Gohar Taj led the workers, while the relevant Pesco officials also attended the meeting.

The workers highlighted their problems about marriage grants, scholarships, promotions, training, and safety measures and demanded necessary steps by the management.

The matters related to the employment of the employees` sons, payment of allowances, pension, training of workers, and maintenance of houses in Pesco colonies also came under discussion.

The Pesco CEO said the management had fulfilled most of the genuine demands of the employees in line with the rules and regulations.

He asked the relevant officials to adopt necessary safety measures while working on live power lines to prevent deadly accidents.

The CEO asked workers to play an effective role for checking illegal connections to improve that company`s financial position and said there was a need to provide the maximum facilities to clients.
