KARACHI: A manslaughter case was registered against the mother of a six-yearold girl after the child fell down from the balcony of a multistorey building in the Kalri area of Lyari and died, police officials said on Thursday.

Area SHO Sajjad Haider said that Kubra Asif had tied her six-year-old-daughter Sawera with a bed inside the flat located on the sixth noor of the building because she was `not attending her class at the seminary` The child managed to untie herself and went to the balcony of the apartment, which has a small balcony wall without any grille, from where she fell down and died of head injuries.

The officer said that the police had registered a case against her mother over charges of unintentional murder on behalf of the state.Mr Haider said she has not been arrested.

Young man found dead A young man was found bludgeoned to death on the outskirts of the city on Thursday, Sharafi Goth police said.

They added that the body of the man identified as Mohammed Safdar, 24, was recovered from the Malir riverbed near Sakhi Dad Goth.

His head was hit with some blunt instrument.

Sharafi Goth police officer Qasim said that it appeared that he was killed somewhere else and later on his body was thrown there.

The man appeared to have died a day earlier, the police added.

The police took the body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medicolegal formalities and were trying to locate his family.
