KARACHI: `The Government are quite alive to the situation and are fully equipped with powers under the Pakistan Public Safety Ordinance to take action as occasion arises,` the Interior Minister, Khwaja Shahabuddin said in Parliament yesterday [April 11] in reply to a question by Mr Nur Ahmad whether the Government were aware that `Communist and similar disruptive organisations are at work in Pakistan in the guise of welfare organisations`. Mr Nur Ahmed had also asked whether `the Government have drawn up any centralised scheme to curb the activities of Communists and other disruptive organisations`.

The same Minister said in a written reply to the same member that it has been decided to take the census of Pakistan in February, 1951, and necessary preliminary steps have been initiated.
