KAR ACHI: A youth was shot dead in Mehran Town on Friday, police said.

They added that 22-year-old Tahir Ahmed was gunned down in Mohammed Khan Goth.

Korangi Industrial Area SHO Mohammed Ali Niazi said that the incident occurred inside a home.

He suspected a family dispute behind the killing but added that so far, no one had approached the police to lodge an FIR. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre medico-legal proceedings.

Suspect gunned down in `encounter` A suspect was gunned down in an `encounter` in Pirabad on Friday, police said.

The officials added that the encounter took place between Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) and robbers at Paracha Graveyard in Qasba Colony where after an exchange of firing, one suspect, Rano Khan Soomro alias Saleem, was gunned down.

The AVLC SSP Bashir Ahmed Brohi described the killed suspect as a `wanted criminal involved in several crimes.` One Toyota Corolla car, that was stolen from Gulistan-i-Jauhar, was recovered from his custody.

The SSP said that in the past, the deceased suspect had also been arrested by Korangi police after an encounter. There were eight FIRs registered against him at different police stations in Karachi, Shikarpur, and Sukkur.
