BAHAWALPUR: Lodhran Deputy Commissioner Dr Lubna Nazir has banned loader-rickshaws across the district with immediate effect.

According to an official handout on Friday, the DC issued orders to ban the loader-rickshaws under Section 114 of the CrPC across the district initially for a period of one month.

The DC, in her order, said the loader-rickshaws had been banned in view of the public complaints against threat to human lives as these three-wheelers were being operated without any safety gadgets and the people were being killed daily by them.

In addition, the loader-rickshaws were not registered with any of the government departments and they were causing huge financial losses to the government.

The handout said the order would remain effective till May 9. Correspondent
