Two motorcyclists die on road

GUJRAT: A boy and a youth died and four others were injured when their motorcycles were hit by speeding trucks on the GT Road in separate incidents on Friday.

Rescue 1122 officials say that aspeedingtruck hit a motorbike near Kharian city on the GT Road, resulting in the instant death of a 15-yearold boy, Hilal Zulfiqar.

In the incident, three other members of the victim`s family, his father Zulfiqar Ali, eight-yearold sister Ayesha Fatima and five-year-old brother Muhammad Wali were injured.

The body of the deceased boy and the injured persons were shifted to the Kharian Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

In another incident, ayouth died and his friend was injured when a speeding truck hit their motorbike on the GT Road.

As per Rescue 1122, Adnan Faisal (22) of Kharian died on the spot due to a fatal head injury, whereas his friend Ali Murtaza was injured.

The body of the deceased and the injured youth were shifted to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital.

A senior rescue official said the ratio of deaths of motorcyclists in road accidents has increased, mainly due to head injuries, as people mostly avoid wearing helmets and violate traffic rules.

He said those riding motorbikes on highways, along with children and women, also fall victim to accidents.

ARRESTED: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed tohave arrested a proclaimed offender allegedly involved in illegally sending the victims of Moroccan boat tragedy abroad, during a crackdown on human trafficking.

An FIA official said the suspect, Waqar Zafar Iqbal of Hardo Chicharw ali, Gujranwala, has been arrested in two different cases (39/2025 and 46/2025) registered under sections 17/22 EO 1979, 3, 6 PSMA, 2018.

He said the suspect, in connivance with other agents, allegedly extorted Rs21 million from the families of illegal immigrants who later died in the Moroccan boat tragedy.

He said the suspect and his accomplices promised to send Irfan Ahmad, Arsalan, Haroon Shahzad and Uzair to Spain for employment viaEthiopia, Senegal and Mauritania. One of the illegal immigrants, Haroon Shahzad, drowned in a boat capsize incident off the Malta coast, while others were rescued.

Inspector Rana Asif Nadeem, SHO FIA Gujranwala, led the raiding party that arrested the suspect.

Meanwhile, the immigration wing of the FIA nabbed a passenger arriving at Sialkot airport from Dubai for being an absconder from Jhelum.

As per the FIA officials, during the clearance of Flight EK-618, Arslan Fiaz of Jhelum, having passport No GY89160051, returning from Dubai, was found to be involved in a court case and his name was on no-fly list. He was handed over to the concerned authorities in Jhelum.
