Motorbike mistake

2015-05-12
IT is almost a daily routine to see motorbikes falling while crossing rail tracks on the underpass at Jhelum Road, Rawalpindi cantonment. The riders, including women and children, who get injured are taken care of by Rescue 1122. Sometimes Rescue 1122 has to take the injured to hospital.

Rescue 1122 submits accidents reports to the higher authorities every fortnight. This can be checked by the media in the public interest.

Such accidents will continue to occur as long as motorcycle riders do not cross the track atright angle accordingto the internationalroad design,as seenin pre-1947 railway crossings.

A passage at right angle can be created at one end of the road, installing suitable light reflector traffic signs to guide motorcycles day and night.

Iappealto the authoritiesconcerned (previously NLC tried to help) to help resolve this serious traffic hazard existing for over two years now.
