Two killed as live wire falls on them

KASUR: Two members of a family were electrocuted on Monday when an 11KV live transmission line broke and fell on them after a windstorm on Peerowala Road.
Ghulam Nabi, of village Pat wan Kalan, with his nephew Muhammad Asghar was riding a bicycle when on Peerowala Road, wires broke due to a windstorm at 12:45am and fell on them. Both Nabi and Asghar died at the scene.
Sadar police shifted the burnt bodies to the Kasur District Headquarters Hospital.
On Monday morning, club-wielding residents of Patwan Kalan and relatives of the victims gathered outside the hospital, burnt tyres and thew traffic out of gear.
Led by former councillor Muhammad Akram, the protesters blocked the road for about one hour and chanted slogans against the Lahore Electric Supply Company and demanded a case against the officials.
Woman`s body found Khudian police seized the body of a woman from her bedroom on Monday in Khangarawala village.
Parveen Bibi was the second wife of landlord Muhammad Akram and was residing in a separate house.
According to complainant Akram, his wife was alone in the house when his rivals, including Khalil, stabbed her to death over a property grudge. Police are looking into case.
Meanwhile, villagers handed over a man to police suspecting him a robber late on Sunday in village Nizampura, in the jurisdiction of Sadar Chunian police.
The suspected turned out to be a police official of Lahore.
According to police, villagers informed them that they had captured a robber who was looting people at gunpoint.
Police took the man, identified as Muhammad Waseem, into custody, and seized two shotguns and a dagger from him.
Police said it was hard for a single man to rob the people at gunpoint. Police have yet to register a case.
