Motorcyclists kill man, injure cop in Mansehra

MANSEHRA: A man was killed and a constable was injured when unidentified motorcyclists opened firing on them in College Doraha area on Karakoram Highway on the night between Sunday and Monday.

`A man was killed in the attack and a policeman received bullet injuries when two persons opened firing on them and fled on a motorbike,` DSP Zulfiqar Khan Jadoon told journalists here on Monday.

Thekilledman wasidentified asMohammad Shahid, a resident of Rahimyar Khan. He was visitinghisin-laws when theincident occurred.

He died while being shifted to hospital.

The police party present near the spot chased the motorcyclists, who fired at the law enforcers. Constable Mohammad Afzal sustained injuries in the firing. He was shifted to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital from where doctorsreferredhim to Ayub Medical ComplexAbbottabad.

Police sources claimed one of the suspects was arrested while his accomplice managed to escape. The arrested person was identified as Umer Hussain Shah, they said.

Mohammad Ayub, the father-in-law of the deceased, told police that his son-in-law had come to meet them. He was killed in the firing, he added.

RESTORATION OF MPA: The supporters of MPA Wajihuzaman Khan took to streets in Oghi on Monday and danced to drumbeats after the Supreme Courts suspended an order of the Election Commission of Pakistan about his disqualification.

`Thanks to Allah and people of my district, who supported me a lot in the critical time of my life but the court`s verdict is defeat of Governor Sardar Mahtab, who hatched conspiracies against me and other party leaders, said Mr Khan while speaking to people at Milad Square in Oghi after the apex court announced the verdict.The ECP had disqualified Mr Khan after PML-N approached it stating that Mr Khan had voted against the party`s candidate in the Senate elections.

Following the announcement of verdict by the Supreme Court, the people also distributed sweets and showered Mr Khan with flowers.

`I will no more remain loyal to the party, which could not put my district on way to development even after the people voted it in two National and four provincial assembly`s constituencies in 2013 general elections,` he said.

The restored MPA said that he had demanded a development package of Rs2 billion for the sake of people of his district from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, but he not only turned down his demand but also attempted to label him as rebel of the party.

Alluding to his possible joining of PTI without naming it, Mr Khan said that henceforth cricket bat would remain with him and soon he would announce his future line of action.
