Fight for province`s rights ours: ANP

By Suhail Kakakhel 2015-05-12
NOWSHERA: ANP provincial president Ameer Haider Khan Hoti on Monday said fight for the rights of the province was in fact his party`s fight and therefore, it decided to support the PTI government`s protest in Islamabad for the purpose.

He said his party`s support for the ruling party on the matter would continue.

After visiting the house of newly-elected member of Nowshera Cantonment Board Wajid Qayyum, Ameer Haider said his party had always worked for the protection of province`s rights and rendered unparalleled sacrifices for it.

He asked how ANP could stay away from the great cause, which was supported by all political parties in the province.

Under the plan, members of the provincial assembly led by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak will stage a protest outside Parliament House against denial of rights to the province by the centre as well as against changes to the proposed ChinaPakistan Economic Corridor and excessive loadshedding in the province.

The ANP leader alleged the provincial government was involved in rigging ahead of the local body elections in the province.

He urged the Chief Election Commission of Pakistan to take immediate notice of whathe called the unlawfulinvolvement of the provincial chief minister in the local government election for corrective measures.

`Candidates of opposition parties are complaining about the involvement of the provincial government`s machinery used against opposition candidates across the province,` he said.

Ameer Haider said it was unfair that the PTI-led provincial government was announcing developmental schemes ahead of local body elections to please voters and that the move was pre-poll rigging.

He criticised the chief minister for visiting the houses of the cantonment board`s elected members and alleged that Pervez Khattak bought their loyalties in an undemocratic manner.

The ANP leader said his party would sweep the coming localbody electionsin the province.

He said the PTI had miserably failed to deliver over the last two years and therefore, the people needed `a change.

ANP district president Malik Juma Khan, leader Malik Aftab and activists were also present on the occasion.

Earlier, Ameer Haider along with ANP central general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain attended a meeting at the house of Shahid Khan Khattak and addressed the party`s candidates for local body elections in Nowshera.

He said Nowshera was a stronghold of ANP, which would form the next local bodies in the district.
