District govt to give laptops to brilliant students

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar district government has announced that it will award laptops and cash prizes to the students who would secure top three positions in examinations of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Peshawar.
According to a statement issued here on Thursday, one laptop and a cash prize of Rs100,000 would be awarded to the first position holder, Rs50,000 and a laptop to second, and Rs25000 with a laptop to the student securing third position.
It was stated that the decision was taken by district nazim Mohammad Asim Khan as pan of the education emergency policy in order to encourage both students and parents and create a sense of competition.
The nazim said that education was basic constitutional right of everyone, but scores of children were still out of schools for different reasons. He said that the district government would try to play its role in enrolment of the out-of-schools children to increase literacy rate in the district.
He said that maximum funds would be allocated for education in the next fiscal budget to encourage students and create a sense of competition among them.
