Monstrous proposal`

2022-05-12
NEW DELHI: Qaed-e-Azam M.A. Jinnah ... said here today [May 11], `if the British decide that India must be divided and it follows that the armed forces must be divided and power transferred to the divided parts, then the Central Government must be dissolved and all power shouldbetransferredtoPakistanandHindustan`.

Mr. Jinnah in an interview with APA rejected as `a monstrous proposal` the Congress Home Members advocacy of giving the interim Government Dominion Status and powers saying the League will never agree to it. He characterised the plan advanced by Mr. Patel as `only a dream of his`. Referring to `the new Congress stunt, the partition of Bengal and the Punjab`the Qaed-e-Azam said, `This is another sinister move and Mr. Patel threatens that if non-Muslims are forced into Pakistan there will be civil war. Mr. Patel cannot see that the demand for the division of India is based on the fundamental principle that we have our National homelands where we want to establish our National State.

`This stunt started,` he said, `on the ground that the non-Muslims minorities there will not receive fair treatment from the Government of these provinces because the Muslims will be in a majority.` Dawn Delhi
