KARACHI: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Wednesday asked the government to repeal the CNIC condition for buyers in the budget 2022-23.
In a statement, FPCCI President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said that nowhere in the world was a buyer being asked to submit their CNIC while making a purchase. He was of the view that the introduction of the CNIC condition was merely a part of political sloganeering at the cost of the national economy.
The FPCCI has also briefed Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, on the issue and about its negative impact on commercial activities in the country, he said, adding that it negatively affected the production and market sales ofbusinesses in Pakistan.-APP ECONOMIC DISASTER: Meanwhile, Chairman Businessmen Group (BMG)and Former President Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Zubair Motiwala has urged the political parties to put differences aside for the sake of Pakistan`s survival.
Expressingdeepconcernsoverthe ongoingand neverending political brawl, he cautioned that this tussle has created a disastrous situation for Pakistan`s economy which was already in an awful state. The business and industrial community fears that the situation would worsen further if all political parties do not bother to realise the gravity of the situation and continue to blame each other.-Staff Reporter
