Murder suspect shot dead by rival at court complex

TOBA T EK SINGH: A man shot dead a murder suspect here on Wednesday at Samundari tehsil courts complex.
Naeem Aslam told the media that he and his brother Saeed Aslam were in Faisalabad jail and both were brought by the police to the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Nadeem Anwar to appear in the murder case got registered against them by their opponents.
He said one of their rivals with whom they had a litigation over farmland ownership dispute, fired at his brother Saeed Aslam who was critically wounded andlater died on the spot.
The assailant managed his escape.
STRIKE: All doctors and paramedics of Faisalabad`s Ghulam Muhammadabad government generalhospitalobserved a strike on Wednesday and suspended services at OPD and indoor throughout the day in protest against police failure in arresting a deceased girl`s relatives who allegedly attacked the staff and damaged hospital equipment.
Addressing a press conference, Punjab Young Doctors Association (YDA) general secretary Dr Noaman Chaudhry and local office-bearers claimed that a critically ill girl, Afreen (20), was brought to hospital who diedafter some time and her 15 relatives attacked doctors and nurses and damaged hospital equipment.

Rescue 1122 said Shabbir Hidayat (75) of Chak Bindi Allahyarwala was crossing the river along with his animals near Sultan Bahoo bridge in Shorkot tehsil. One of his animals suddenly got trapped in deep water and he along with the animal drowned in a bid to rescue it.
Rescuers were trying to recoverthe body till the filing of the report in the evening.
FARMERS: Scores of farmers belonging to different villages staged a protest demonstration on Wednesday against the irrigation department officials on Samundari Road.
They blocked traffic on the road and chanted slogans against the irrigation department for nonsupply of canal water. The protesters told the media that owing to shortage of water their crops were being damaged and they were unable to sow cotton crop.
JOB FAIR: The National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCESFAST), Chiniot-Faisalabad Campus, will organise a `Job Fair22` on May 18, said Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Atif Munir Sheikh here on Wednesday.
