Covid SOPs again enforced in Swabi varsity

SWABI: Women University Swabi (WUS) vice-chancellor Prof Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi said here on Wednesday that Omicron`s new variant was likely to spread with a high speed so the varsity administration had decided that the students and faculty members would not be allowed without wearing masks in classrooms.

Speaking at an emergency meeting about reports of Omicron`s sub-variant, she said that the Covid SOPs would be strictly followed while all meetings of the university would be held in open air.The VC said that Omicron had been classified by the WHO as a highly transmissible variant. She said that cholera cases were also increasing in the country due to extremely high temperatures. She advised use of safe drinking water and keeping hands clean besides avoiding eating food from vendors.

TWO KILLED: Two persons, including nephew of local Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader, were killed here on Wednesday, said police andrescue ofhcials.

When contacted, Swabi city police SHOAltaf Khan said that Adnan Shams, nephew of Israel Shah Bacha, was shot dead in Gohati by unidentified assailants. He said that the FIR had not been registered as yet.

In another case, a man identified as Nisar Khan was killed in Yar Hussain area. The cause of the incident was stated to be an old enmity.

Both the deceased and the accused belong to Gombat village of Mardan. Wife of the deceased has registered an FIR against Asadullah and Fareedullah in the local police station. Correspondent
