LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf says the delaying tactics are being used to keep party patron-in-chief Imran Khan incarcerated for a longer period without trial in `false` cases.
In a statement issued by the PTI Punjab office, it has been stated that once again, hearings in two fabricated cases against Mr Khan had been postponed. The proceedings, originally scheduled for this week, have now been adjourned for 20 days until July 1.
`This calculated delay appears to serve two purposes: first, to Imran Khan`s ability to engage in political consultationsrelated to the planned protest movement; and second, to push the matterintothe judicialrecess beginning July 1, which will halt court proceedings until August,` a PTI spokesman stated and added this would effectively ensure that Mr Khan should remain incarcerated without trial for an extended period.
The spokesman said, `the pattern is clear, false cases are filed only to have their trials intentionally stalled. lawyers are made unavailable, judges are conveniently on leave, and justice is obstructed at every turn.
Those orchestrating these cases know full well that a fair trial will see them dismissed as baseless`.
