Protests over water shortage

BADIN: The fishermen community and farmers on Friday continued their street protests in different towns of the district over a drought-like situation created by an acute shortage of water.
A large number of the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF) took out a rally and staged a demonstration in Seerani town raising slogans against government for not heeding to their distress calls.
Mohammad Mithan Mallah, the PFF Badin chief and other activists, including Mohammad Hassan Mallah and Baghi Mohammad Ismail, along with Qaumi Awami Tehrik (QAT) activists spolce to the protesters.
They told the media that most parts of Badin district had been experiencing an acute shortage of drinking and irrigation water for several months.
Farmers of Dei town also took to the streets over water shortage in Sultani minor persisting for seven months.
QAT activists led by Kamran Lakho and Sher Mohammad Talpur staged a protest demonstration outside the Badin Press Club for a second consecutive day on Friday against what they called `a water crisis that has hit almost the entire province`
