GUJAR KHAN: Raman union council chairman Mirza Inayatullah was shot and injured while his wife and niece were killed by two men late Monday night.

Mr Inayatullah told Jatli police that his wife Gulshan Parveen, niece Hira Bano and himself were sleeping in the lawn in his home in the Raeyan Gorsian village.

At about 1:40am on Monday night, two young men one of whom he said lived in the same village and another was from the neighbouring Bhlaiser village scaled the wall of the compound, which woke him up.

He said one of the men attempted to overpower his niece, who resisted and ran towards the living room, when she was shot and killed on the spot. He told the police he attempted to intervene and was shot by the other armed man in his leg. His wife had also woken up from the gunshots and was also shot and killed.

Mr Inayatullah told the police the shooter who was from the same village had expressed a desire to marry his niece, who did not reciprocate. He said the man and his accomplice attacked the family in revenge.-Correspondent
