NCHD employees stage protest

ISLAMABAD: Employees of the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) on Tuesday took to the streets, demanding minimum salaries according to the law.

After staging a sit-in in front of the NCHD offices in Blue Area, the men and women, mostly teachers, including those from provincial offices, marched towards the National Press Club, where they also protested against the appointment of former senator, Razina Alam Khan, as chairperson, NCHD.

Talking to Dawn, Director Operations, NCHD, Balochistan, Syed Sikandar Shah and Director, NCHD, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Anwar Iqbal, said contrary to the Islamabad High Court orders, employees of NCHD were being denied benefits and perks since 2013.

The protesters demanded that the contract employees should be regularised.

However, a senior official of the NCHD said that the concerns of all the protesting employees were being addressed.

`A new director general has been brought on board to sort out all administrative issues,` said the official.
