SHANGLA: Four persons of a family were killed and another was injured when a jeep plunged into deep ravine in Karora area here on Tuesday.

Karora police SHO Haleem Khan said the jeep with five passengers on board was on way to Dunai area, adding the ill-fated family was returning from tehsil headquarters hospital, Bisham.

He said when the jeep reached Karora its brakes failed and it fell down into a deep ditch resulting in on the spot killing of Zubida Bibi, Baha Bibi and Shah Rawan. The local people reached the spot and started rescue work.

The bodies and two injured persons were taken to rural health centre, Karora, where a girl named Nishat Bibi succumbed to her injuries. The injured driver, Sher Alam, was referred to Saidu Teaching Hospital in Swat in critical condition.

Locals said mother of a local PTl leader, Nisar Ahmed Khan, was among the dead.

Meanwhile, body of a man strangulated to death was found on the bank of Khan Khwar River on Tuesday.

SHO Habib Sayed said a police party recovered the body and took it to the tehsil headquarters hospital, Bisham. He said they had already arrested a suspect along with a stolen vehicle, adding the victim seemed a companion of the vehicle driver, who was still missing. Correspondent
