LAHORE: The Punjab government on Friday launched yet another project in the name of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

The Maryam Nawaz Ration Card has been initiated for 40,000 mine workers. Under the programme, each worker will receive a monthly ration worth Rs 3,000.

A formal inauguration ceremony was held under the aegis of the Mines & Minerals Department on Friday where Minister for Mines Sher Ali Gorchani was the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Sher Ali Gorchani said the scheme was a practical reflection of the chief minister’s commitment to economic dignity and social justice for the working class.

“Under the ration card scheme, mines workers will be able to receive monthly ration worth up to Rs3,000,” he said and added this financial assistance would be increased in coming years.—Staff Reporter
