Leadership conference brings students from across country

ISLAMABAD: Motivational speeches and inspirational songs marked the first day of Young Leaders Conference (YLC) 2015 on Tuesday.

With the theme `regeneration`, referring to a re-assessment of pre-existing ideas in today`s context, the organisers were keen to inspire the purpose of life among the youth coming from 55 cities.

Organised by School of Leadership, the YLC is an annualconferencethathasbeen takingplace since 2002.

While more than 100 girls and 200 boys are attending the sixday event, more than 3,000 young leaders from urban and ruralareasarepartoftheextensive YLC network.

Politicians, business tycoons, celebrities and youth leadershave been part of this conference over the years who share their experiences and give their input on various issues concerning the youth.

Social, cultural and political and economic facets of leadership were highlighted by mentors, experts, practitioners and trainers in an environment conducive to learning.

`The YLC not only broadened the visions of and infused passion among the youth but provided a platform to them to develop friendships,` said one of the organisers.

Speakers including lawyers, human rights activists and celebrities such as Asma Jehangir, Dr Fouzia Saeed and Pervez Hoodbhoy emphasised on the youth to shed old beliefs and discover purpose of life besides improving their understanding of culture, politics and economy.During the hour-long opening ceremony, motivational speeches from entrepreneurs and speakers from the business community were followed by inspirational videos and songs, elaborating on the power of human spirit and courage, which energised the young crowd.

`The six-day-long YLC is a fusion of innovation and inspiration that will urge the participants to look at future possibilities and activate sense of social responsibilities,` said the organizer.

The youngsters will also be involved in outdoor activities such as visits to Lok Virsa, Faisal Mosque and Pakistan Monument.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI), MNA, Asad Omar, inaugurated the event being organised with the support of Pakistan-US Alumni Network.
