BAHAWALPUR: Police claimed on Tuesday to have solved the case of attempt on city Tehsil Municipal Officer Rana Zahid Javed`s life and arrested two persons.

District Police Officer Sarfraz Ahmed Falki said the main culprit was Adnan Qureshi, naib qasid of the TMO, and Rashid was his accomplice.

He said Qureshi fired shots to eliminate Rana Zahid in Ramazan to prevent an inquiry against him.

The DPO said Qureshi wasinvolved in two criminal cases which had been registered against him a few years ago.

Police have arrested Qureshi and recovered a revolver from his possession.

Dengue larva found A health department team found `dengue larva` at police mall
A lawyer, Syed Faizul Kabir Fauzi, told Dawn that he saw mosquitoes in his chamber on Monday and requested the health departmentofficials to pay a visit and check the premises. The department sent a team to the district courts and checked lawyers` chambers and the malkhana and found `larva` around its water tank.

District Officer Health Dr Saeed Asghar said he was on his way to Lahore on an official visit and would be able to provide the details of laboratory tests on Thursday. He said entomologist Ms Shehnaz, who led the health department`s team to conduct a survey in the court premises, ruled out the possibility of dengue larva in the water tank of the said premises.
