A number of LHVs and LHWs demonstrated in front of the DCO office to highlight alleged harassment and blackmail by a peon.

They blocked Chiniot-Jhang Road for hours until theDCO met their representatives and assured them that criminal proceedings would be launched against the suspect.

LHVs Shabnam Rani and Alia Noreen of Basic Health Unit Chak 126-JB told reporters that peon Muhammad Ali had been harassing and blackmailing them for the past many months. They said they complained to the health department authorities but to no avail.

District Officer Health Dr Mushtaq Bashir suspended the peon from service and initiated departmental proceedings against him.
