LAHORE: Jamaat-iIslami Emir Senator Sirajul Haq on Thursday expressed deep concern over the alarming increase in child abductions all over the country, especially in Punjab and said the situation had exposed all claims of good governance.
In a statement here, he said individuals and groups involved in the crime deserved no leniency and must be dealt with an iron hand and the abducted children be recovered to comfort the distressed parents.
Haq said the abduction of 850 children in Punjab in the last three months should have been worrisome for the rulers but they seemed totally indifferent to the situation.
He said according to reports, different groups of kidnappers were smuggling innocent children outside the country and it was tragic that the government agencies had failed toshatter the network of the captors.
He said there had been tall claims of good governance in Punjab but the province had witnessed the cases of mass child abuse some time back and was now experiencing child abductions at a large scale.
It was obvious that the criminals had no fear of the police and security institutions and the government machinery was helpless before the outlaws.
Meanwhile, Sirajul Haq has expressed deep grief over the demise of cricket legend Hanif Muhammad.
In a condolence message, he said Hanif Muhammad had played memorable innings due to which he would live long in the memory of his admirers. He expressed his sympathies with the family.
LIAQUAT: Secretary General Liaquat Baloch, who returned from Balochistan, said the Quetta tragedy called for a complete nationalunity for safeguarding national solidarity and integrity.
In a statement, he stressed upon the prime minister to take the national leadership into confidence and bring them on one page. The shortcomings in the implementation of the NAP must be overcome and weaknesses in the police and intelligence institutions should be removed.
The JIsecretary general said the US and India could not digest the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, so, all internal differences on the project should be overcome.
He said that was appropriate time for the political leadership to resolve political, social and economic problems of the country and to hold an All Party Conference in Quetta. He said India was trying hard to divert the world attention from the prevailing situation in Kashmir.
Therefore, diplomatic efforts should be intensified to highlight the Kashmir issue.
