There was no issue of the newspaper on Sept 12, 1967 on account of the Quaid-i-Azam`s death anniversary. The following extract and visual are from the previous day`s issue.

KARACHI: The Quaid-i-Azam Memorial Committee will meet sometime this month under the chairmanship of President Mohammad Ayub Khan to examine two important proposals relating to the development of the areas in and around the Mausoleum land [Sept 10].

One of the schemes has been prepared by the Karachi Development Authority, and the other by the Committee`s own experts.

The Authority`s plan is related to the road nanking the southern boundary of the Mausoleum, and includes the development of a commercial area along the new road.

According to the plan, the 200-feet Shahrah-iQuaideen which terminates near the PECH Society Office will be extended across through Khudadad Colony.

At the common boundary of the Mausoleum and Khudadad Colony, the extended Shahrah-iQuaideen will join another extension road which will branch off from the existing roundabout at the mouth of Dadabhoy Noroji Road, east of the Mausoleum.

The new road will flank the Mausoleum and finally join the M.A. Jinnah Road roundabout at Old Exhibition roundabout.

Although the new road flanks the 100-acre Mausoleum land, at places it also encroaches upon it. The plan also includes the development of the buffer zone between the Mausoleum land and Khudadad Colony, along the proposed new road, for a commercial area, mostly comprising shops and stores that fitted into the overall setting of the monument.

The Authority may prescribe certain restrictions, both as respects the building plans as well as the commercial purposes for which the building will be used.

The scheme prepared by the Committee`s experts relates to a commercial area within the Mausoleum boundaries at the site of the Old Exhibition ground. Correspondent
